Knit/Surf Wedding

A collection of images and ideas for the upcoming autumn 2010 nuptials of a knitter and a surfer.

We also checked out Wilson Creek Winery in Temecula as a possible venue.

At first, I thought I was going to go with this place over DH.  I didn’t like the Barrel Room as much as I thought I would (it was darker than I expected and cold) but they had a secondary Garden Terrace Room on the second floor that was really beautiful!

However, after considering this venue at length, I realized there were too many cons (yes, I made a pro/con list!):

-7 miles from the freeway and the closest hotel … I don’t want guests to drink too much wine and have to drive a dark windy road home.

-In Temecula - nearly an hour away.  Most guests live in San Diego.

-More than one wedding takes place at a time.

-There is a restaurant right next to the gazebo designated for the smaller wedding.  The folks seated outside have front row seats for the ceremony!  The other gazebo is only available if the bride with the larger wedding doesn’t want it.

-There is only one bridal changing room.  So, if you aren’t the first bride to book on a particular day you have to get ready off-site.

-The site comes with a wedding package starting at about $165/person.  There’s some room for customization but not much.

-The wedding coordinater was kooky.

I think I made the right choice!
