Today I contacted florists for quotes and shortly will be arranging meetings/phone conversations to get details.

Although the colors aren’t right in the above photo, I love the feel of these centerpieces … I’m imagining something similiar only with hydrangeas and green succulents instead of roses.

Artichokes have great texture and color. 5 minute candle holder transformation:

Step 1: Pick a lovely artichoke ($2) and cut off the bottom so it stays upright.
Step 2: Cut across top; carve out inside until you get to the clean interior leaves.
Step 3: Give the artichoke hole a nice lemon juice bath so it doesn’t oxidize.
Step 4: Insert a votive or small candle holder and a tealight. Enjoy.
Note: Store in the fridge with a wet paper towel.

I found a really great tutorial on how to use waste canvas to cross stitch designs onto fabrics that aren’t “evenweave” fabrics.

I’ve been toying with the idea of incorporating vintage hankerchiefs somehow into the wedding … but printing invitations onto fabric is quite expensive and seems to be a DIY night mare. Perhaps cross stitching our wedding date and our guests initials onto hankies would be a sweet (if not time/labor intensive) give away?
